The club’s board of directors, led by Joan Laporta, has confirmed that the total investment associated with the comprehensive development of the area reaches 3.4 billion US dollars (approximately 3.2 billion euros at the current exchange rate), with the support of a consortium of large international investors.

This figure represents not only the renovation of the iconic stadium, but a complete transformation of the environment that will turn the area into one of the most advanced sports, shopping and entertainment complexes in the world.

The plan, which has already been in full execution since 2023, includes the modernization of Spotify Camp Nou with state-of-the-art standards: a final capacity that will exceed 104,000 spectators (initially projected at 105,000), a complete retractable roof that will protect all attendees from inclement weather, improved universal accessibility systems, elevators, escalators, new bathrooms, expanded hospitality areas and cutting-edge technology in lighting, sound and giant screens.

The stadium, which has already partially reopened in phases (with reduced capacity around 45,000-60,000 spectators in 2025-2026), will reach its final configuration towards the end of 2026 or beginning of 2027, depending on the latest adjustments to the schedule.

But the project goes far beyond the grass. The club’s vision contemplates the creation of a true multifunctional district around the Spotify Camp Nou. Among the notable developments is the construction of a high-end luxury hotel integrated into the complex, designed to offer exclusive experiences to fans, tourists and corporate visitors. This hotel will not only generate constant additional income, but will boost sports tourism in Barcelona, ​​attracting thousands of people throughout the year, not just on match days.

In addition, an extensive entertainment area is being developed that will include premium commercial spaces, themed restaurants, Barça flagship stores, interactive areas for families and an expanded and renovated museum that will narrate the culé legacy in an immersive and innovative way. Never before in the history of football has such a complete space been conceived: the Espai Barça seeks to merge sport, culture, leisure and business in 18 central hectares of the city of Barcelona, ​​with more than 350,000 square meters of constructed area.

The club estimates that, once 100% operational, this ecosystem will generate recurring income that could exceed €1 billion annually at its peak, even exceeding initial projections thanks to sponsorships such as Spotify (which gives its name to the stadium), VIP agreements and commercial exploitation.

The financing of this macroinvestment has been one of the most notable achievements of the current board. In 2023, Barça closed a deal with Goldman Sachs and a group of 20 investors for 1.45 billion euros (around $1.6 billion at the time), with 5.5% interest and a grace period during construction.

With this, Barça seeks to reverse its complicated past financial situation, where the debt exceeded 1,000 million euros and forced extreme maneuvers such as asset sales or economic levers.

The new Spotify Camp Nou is presented as the definitive tool to achieve sustainability: internal projections speak of 360-400 million euros per year just from the fully operational stadium, plus contributions from the hotel, entertainment and museum, which could take the club’s total income above 1.2 billion euros in 2028.
