Braylon Mullins is running it back with UConn. According to On3 Sports on Saturday, the Huskies guard is returning for his sophomore season.
Mullins was a key part of Dan Hurley’s team that reached the 2026 national championship game. He averaged 12.0 points per game as a freshman, and his signature moment was hitting the game-winning shot over Duke to send the Huskies to the Final Four.

College basketball fans reacted on X.
A fan said, “When are young guys going to learn that nba teams don’t care about college success. I guarantee you his draft stock falls. He was honestly underwhelming throughout the season and was going to get a top 15 pick salary. Hes boogie fland 2.0.”
Another added, “Wow, did not expect this.”
One wrote, “he turns 20 today as a freshman?”
Some weren’t as pessimistic.
One said, “I am glad for him. Lot of work to be done and lot of fun to still have in Storrs.”
Another wrote, “Good decision. He’ll be a Lottery in 2027.”
One chipped in, saying, “Massive! UConn gonna be loaded again!”
Coming out of Greenfield-Central High School in Greenfield, Indiana, Braylon Mullins was rated as a five-star recruit by 247Sports.com. He got offers from the North Carolina Tar Heels and Indiana Hoosiers, but ultimately signed to play for Dan Hurley’s UConn Huskies.
Mullins started all but four of the 33 games he played as a freshman. He settled into the team nicely and saw his role increase as the season reached its business end.
Braylon Mullins shone in March Madness, and he got national attention for his game-winning logo 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left against the Duke Blue Devils in the Elite Eight. The shot earned plaudits, and ESPN’s Jeff Borzello called the shot “one of the greatest shots in the history of the NCAA Tournament.”

Braylon Mullins’ return could be vital for Dan Hurley’s UConn Huskies
Numerous mock drafts viewed Braylon Mullins as a first-round pick in the 2026 draft. His shooting, high motor and basketball IQ were traits considered transferable to the next level.
The combo guard’s decision to stay with UConn for at least one more season is a big plus for Dan Hurley’s squad-building plans. He’s the team’s fourth-highest scorer per game and one of the most promising combo guards in the country.
The Huskies are fresh off a heartbreaking 69-63 loss to the Michigan Wolverines in the national championship game. It torpedoed their aim of winning three titles in four years.
Hurley can now worry less about dipping into the transfer portal to get a like-for-like replacement for Mullins. Instead, the two-time national championship-winning coach can focus on building a stronger contending roster around the promising guard.
