The late Henry Ford was honored for his aspiration to transform the automobile. However, it’s the combination of the company and its founder who were recognized at the Gala for their magnificent contributions to the automotive industry.
During his lifetime, Ford devoted his vision to every part of the company, leaving a legacy that still resonates within the company today.
“Henry Ford left us with quite a legacy, and the Ford team continues driving innovation through every part of our business to improve people’s lives,” said Jim Holland, vice president of Ford Motor Company. “This is what has always defined us as a company — Through innovation, we are changing the way the world moves.”
Passionate about improving society, Henry Ford provided jobs for those in need and introduced the world to the first affordable consumer car. However, it was Ford’s ability to champion the moving assembly line which helped usher in another industrial revolution and higher wages for factory workers. As a result, the middle class of society flourished.
Ford’s legacy of innovation continues today with EcoBoost engine technology, which powers more than 5 million Ford vehicles and also helps drivers save gas. Furthermore, Ford has introduced industry-first inflatable rear safety belts, which provide additional protection for rear seat passengers.
Ford Motor Company continues to innovate today, paying strict attention to four global megatrends — air quality and public health concerns, the expanding middle class, population growth, and the ever changing customer attitudes and priorities.
Battling against hybrid and electric powered automobiles from other automobile manufacturers, Ford continues to build itself upon a solid business platform that involves producing high quality products, earning a return, and overall, to create a better, more efficient world to live in.
