Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian Barker’s relationship blossomed from a shared love of fitness and wellness. The Blink-182 drummer, 48, shared with PEOPLE how their bond over exercising played a crucial role in their romance.
“It’s one of the main reasons we were so close,” Barker said. “We would always work out together and run together or do stuff like that together before we were ever in a relationship — we were workout buddies forever. It was what started it all.”
Their fitness journey continues as they navigate parenthood together, having welcomed their son Rocky in November 2023. Barker emphasized the importance of maintaining both physical and mental health as parents. “We’ll do Pilates together, we’ll carve out a half hour or an hour every day to go out,” he shared about their routine.
Barker is also gearing up for his latest endeavor, Run Travis Run, inspired by the iconic running scene from Forrest Gump. The event, set for July 6 in Los Angeles and July 21 in Queens, New York, aims to motivate people to get active. “It should just be fun,” Barker said. “Even if they see this, and they don’t run it, maybe it motivates them to get outside.”
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a priority for Barker, who begins his day with a 30-minute walk while listening to audiobooks or podcasts. “I’ve always struggled with sleeping, especially after shows when I’m wound up and hyper. I’ve just found wellness and working out is so critical for everything that I do,” he explained.
The couple’s commitment to wellness extends to their diet as well. Barker revealed that he has adopted some of Kourtney’s healthy eating habits, including her “really good avocado shake” and a partially vegan diet. “She eats a vegan diet probably about 75 percent of the time,” Barker noted, adding that he is happy to join her in this lifestyle.
Kourtney introduced Barker to various healthy foods, while he introduced her to matcha. Their shared passion for wellness has strengthened their relationship. “It’s amazing to be with someone that has the same love for wellness,” Barker said.
