“This is a bloody fix! This can’t be a fair win… Look at Brodie Kostecki, he’s the victim of a conspiracy and I’ve got the evidence!”

In one of the most fiery outbursts in Supercars history, Dick Johnson has sensationally claimed that Broc Feeney’s dominant victory in Race 16 at the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440 was “a bloody fix”.

The 81-year-old Supercars icon and owner of Shell V-Power Racing didn’t hold back, launching a blistering attack on Broc Feeney and the Red Bull Ampol Racing (Triple Eight) team, accusing them of using “non-transparent” and “shady” tactics to rob his driver Brodie Kostecki of a rightful win.

“This is a bloody fix! This can’t be a fair dinkum win,” Johnson roared in the paddock shortly after the chequered flag. “Look at Brodie Kostecki — he’s the victim of a stitch-up and I’ve got the evidence!”

The explosive comments have sent shockwaves through the entire Supercars community, turning what was already a drama-filled weekend in Tasmania into an absolute firestorm.

Johnson’s Furious Allegations

Johnson, a five-time Australian champion and one of the most respected figures in the sport, didn’t stop at just one accusation. He claimed that Triple Eight employed questionable race strategy and radio messages in the closing stages of the 84-lap feature race that “didn’t add up”.

According to Johnson, data and video evidence in his possession allegedly shows suspicious coordination that slowed down parts of the field at critical moments, allowing Feeney to maintain his lead unchallenged while Kostecki battled mechanical gremlins and earlier contact damage.

“I’ve been in this game for over 50 years,” Johnson told reporters with visible anger. “I know what proper racing looks like, and that wasn’t it. Brodie had the car to win today. Instead, he got done over by tactics that need proper investigation.”

The Tasmania Backdrop

The allegations come after a nightmare weekend for Kostecki. In Race 15, he was taken out by David Reynolds at the Turn 4 hairpin. Then in Sunday’s feature race, the #17 Shell V-Power Ford suffered refuelling issues and persistent brake problems, eventually finishing a frustrated 12th.

Meanwhile, Broc Feeney drove what many described as a near-perfect race to secure a commanding victory, further extending his championship lead at the time.

But Johnson is having none of it.

“Brodie’s been through the wringer this weekend, and now this? Nah, mate. Something’s not right,” he added.

Triple Eight Fires Back

Triple Eight Race Engineering and team boss Jamie Whincup were quick to hit back, describing Johnson’s claims as “baseless and disappointing”.

“Broc drove brilliantly all weekend,” Whincup said. “To suggest we did anything dodgy is insulting to the whole team. We race hard and we race fair. If Dick’s got evidence, he should put it forward to Motorsport Australia instead of making accusations in the media.”

Broc Feeney himself, when asked for comment, looked visibly surprised by the attack from the Supercars legend.

“I’ve got massive respect for Dick Johnson — he’s a legend of the sport,” Feeney said. “But I raced my guts out today. There was no stitch-up. I just had the best car and executed the strategy.”

Kostecki’s Response

Brodie Kostecki, who has had a tense on-track relationship with Feeney in the past, chose his words carefully but didn’t completely distance himself from his boss’s comments.

“I’m disappointed with how the weekend went,” Kostecki said. “We had the speed but things went against us. As for what Dick said — he’s a straight shooter. If he believes there’s something there, then it deserves looking into.”

Paddock Divided

The paddock is now split down the middle. Some veterans have quietly backed Johnson, saying the veteran knows what he’s talking about after decades in the sport. Others believe the 81-year-old is letting emotion get the better of him after watching his driver suffer yet another tough weekend.

Matthew Payne, who finished second in Race 16, tried to play peacemaker: “It was tough racing out there. Emotions run high after a long weekend. But at the end of the day, we all want to win fair and square.”

Cam Waters was more blunt: “Dick’s entitled to his opinion, but throwing around words like ‘fix’ is pretty heavy. Let’s see what the officials say.”

Championship Implications

The controversy has thrown the 2026 Repco Sprint Cup into even more chaos. Before the weekend, Kostecki was fighting hard for the title. Now, with another poor result and public accusations flying, the pressure is mounting on the entire DJR squad heading into the Darwin Triple Crown in June.

Many believe this public war of words could either ignite a fierce rivalry between DJR and Triple Eight for the rest of the season — or create bad blood that lingers for years.

A Legend’s Legacy

Dick Johnson has never been one to shy away from a fight. From his famous “Rock Incident” at Bathurst in 1980 to building DJR into a powerhouse, he has always spoken his mind. But even by his standards, this outburst is one of the strongest in recent memory.

Whether his claims lead to an official investigation by Motorsport Australia remains to be seen. What is certain is that the 2026 Supercars season has just become a whole lot spicier.

As the teams pack up and head north to the Top End, one question is on everyone’s lips: Was Broc Feeney’s win legitimate, or does Dick Johnson actually have the evidence to back up his explosive claims?

Australian motorsport fans will be waiting anxiously for the next chapter in this unfolding drama.
